About Red Oak Animal Rescue

Wendy Lake, our founder, has been saving animals her whole life. In 2006, her family moved to New Richmond with 8 horses, a few cats and 3 dogs. As more animals were rescued it quickly grew into something larger. Red Oak Animal Rescue Inc. was accepted as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 2016.

Fast forward to today, and we have over 200 residents. Many of the animals here come from being abandoned or an abusive situation. They also come here from local dog shelters after being confiscated by animal control officers. We have dealt with many hoarding/neglect cases.

Some of our animals are forever residents who will live out their natural lives, others are able to be adopted. We have a very strict screening process.

All of our residents have a story of how they got here. We are happy to share those stories with you to give you an understanding of why rescues and sanctuaries like ours continue to be necessary. It would be a wonderful turn of events if we were no longer needed. Until then, we are committed to our mission and always looking for funds to help in our efforts
